This project started with one customer wanting their back garden re-designed and made into a space which they could use for entertaining. Our design plans were then shown to their next door neighbours who decided their garden would also benefit from a Dragonfly-Landscapes make over, so we were asked to draw up some plans for them which they also loved. From what started as a one customer project had now become a substantial trio development. All the three properties had very limited space in their gardens for sitting down and relaxing in so the first challenge for Dragonfly-Landscapes was to tackle all the earth that had to be excavated from all three gardens. In all 16 tons of earth was removed from each property and this was all removed by hand as there was, unfortunately, no access to position a mechanical digger at the rear of the properties.
The three gardens had a similar theme but with variations with all of the customers wanting a seating area built into the project but in different styles and over two split levels. The upper levels of the gardens were originally sloped so they all had to be terraced, levelled out and then fencing installed to segregate all properties. All of the walls on the projects were rendered and with Indian stone arranged on top. When building the walls the customers requested us to integrate a storage solution for each of their three bins. To achieve this we incorporated 'cubby holes' in the walls to place the bins out of view. Finally all the lower levels had the same Indian stone laid throughout to create a feeling of open space which was what the customers had sought.
